主要研究方向：互联网数据挖掘、多媒体信息处理、图像与视频压缩等。

刘东，男，生于1983年10月，安徽省灵璧县人。中国科学技术大学电路与系统专业博士。现任中国科学技术大学电子工程与信息科学系副教授。2000年9月至2004年6月，中国科学技术大学电子科学与技术系学习，获得理学学士学位。2004年9月至2009年6月，中国科学技术大学—微软亚洲研究院联合培养研究生，获得工学博士学位。其中2005年7月至2008年7月在微软亚洲研究院网络多媒体组为访问学生。2009年7月至2012年8月，诺基亚研究院（北京）工作，任研究员。2012年12月至今，中国科学技术大学电子工程与信息科学系副教授。担任多个国际著名期刊的审稿人，包括IEEE Trans. Image Processing，IEEE Trans. Circuits and Systems for Video Technology，IEEE Trans. Multimedia等。曾担任多个国际会议的技术委员会成员（Technical Program Committee Member），包括IEEE Int. Conf. Image Processing，IEEE Int. Conf. Multimedia & Expo，IEEE Int. Symp. Circuits and Systems等。已在国际著名期刊或会议上发表论文12篇，其中第一作者9篇。获得2009年度IEEE CSVT Transactions Best Paper Award（下列论文第7项）。参与申请专利共12项。
